Systems Medicine for Clinical Decision Support
The research group of Dr. Robert S. Parker focuses on applying the physical modeling and process control principles of systems engineering and the physiological descriptions of life from systems biology to solve clinical problems arising from disease. We currently use the diverse tool-sets originating from these fields to treat Cancer, Cystic Fibrosis and respiratory disease, Sepsis, and to perform glucose control in critical care. Ultimately we seek to provide objective treatment suggestions to physicians based on individualized patient characterization and model prediction. We operate at the interface between Systems Biology, Engineering, and Medicine by ways of collaborations with scientists and clinicians to achieve that end.
