Swanson School of Engineering undergraduate students must take six courses in the humanities and social sciences as part of their degree requirements. We believe in the value of developing critical thinking skills in academic pursuits outside of STEM, in addition to those developed in Math, Science, and Engineering. Engineers solve problems by drawing on information they know from all disciplines and elective requirements enhance our students’ overall academic development.
As part of their humanities and social science elective requirements, students must fulfill requirements related to depth, breadth, and writing. Please consult the Catalog for details on these requirements and a full list of approved humanities/social science elective courses.
