The idea is that you can take many measurements of a single surface, even using many different tools, and upload them all into one single “Digital Surface Twin”.

Then calculate metrics, like power spectral density (PSD) or auto-correlation function (ACF).

Best of all (for nerdy academics), you can share your data with collaborators (students, advisors, etc.) and choose to publish your data with a DOI, to accompany a research paper.
