The two sides of research in the Tevis Jacobs Lab: Atomic-scale Interactions & Device-scale Performance
Atomic-Scale Interactions: We study the fundamental atomic interactions that occur at surfaces by testing very sharp needle-like probes or nanoparticles inside of a powerful electron microscope.
Device-Scale Performance: We also seek to scale-up those atomic insights to improve the performance of real-world devices, from longer-lasting brain implants to non-skid flooring to wear-resistant coatings that make razor blades last longer.
