Why you chose Pitt:
I chose Pitt because I wanted to be a bioengineer and Pitt has an amazing bioengineering program and research on campus. Even as a mechanical engineering student, I can still take part in any type of research that I want. I love the location of Pitt as well because it is so easy to go into the city and experience an urban campus while also feeling a somewhat more intimate campus in Oakland.
Advice to a First Year Engineering Student:
I would recommend taking the honors engineering classes, if you can, because it allows you to take Art of Making second semester. Art of Making was an incredible opportunity to gain hands-on experience in engineering during my freshman year and it is one of the coolest classes offered at Pitt. Also, try something new. Sign up for a club that you have always wondered about and maybe bring a friend. It is a great way to meet new people and even discover a hidden interest.
Extracurricular involvement and Future Goals:
In addition to Engineering Ambassadors, I am a member of Pitt’s Co-ed professional engineering fraternity, Theta Tau, as well as the Hillel at Pitt. I hope to work in prosthetics design and brain-computer interfaces during my co-op, which I intend to start Summer 2019, and after college.
