Why you chose Pitt:
Right from the start, I knew I wanted a state school that offered amazing school spirit and opportunities for success. Pitt satisfied that requirement, but at the same time, I loved how it was not too big that you wouldn’t have the chance to build relationships with faculty and students. I wanted a college that had a campus feel while also being in an urban setting. Pitt offered me the best of both worlds! The Swanson School of Engineering did not only have an excellent engineering program, but also emphasized the balance of working hard and experiencing new, great things.
Advice to First Year Engineering Student:
When it comes to coursework, don’t hesitate to reach out to your professors, academic advisors, or upperclassmen mentors. Always remember that it’s okay to ask for help when you need it. At Pitt and throughout the city of Pittsburgh, there are so many opportunities and things to experience. Go out and try new, exciting things. Don’t limit yourself! Lastly, you don’t have to sacrifice your other interests solely for engineering. Pitt makes it very possible to be able to pursue engineering and your other interests at the same time.
Extracurricular involvement and or Future Goals:
In addition to being an Engineering Ambassador, I am a member of Engineering Student Council and Musical Theater Club. I play intramural soccer. In the near future, I am eager to take part in one of Pitt’s many international experiences, hopefully somewhere in Europe. I also am looking forward to possibly participating in the Co-op program, with an intended start of Summer 2017.
