Almost every action item below will require a Pitt email address or will send critical communications to it. Set it up in Step 1 before doing anything else. Your department will reach out with program-specific instructions as well.

Your official @pitt.edu address is required for everything that follows. Instructions were sent to the email you applied with.
Get StartedSet Up Two-Factor Authentication (Duo)
Required to log into PittNet, Canvas, and the student portal. Set this up immediately after activating your email.
Set Up DuoObtain Your Student ID Number
Log into the Student Portal (my.pitt.edu) with your Pitt credentials to find your student ID. You'll need it for many administrative tasks.

Enrollment & Matriculation
Complete Before Orientation
Matriculate & Enroll in Courses
Your academic department will email enrollment instructions. Contact them if you haven't heard back — don't wait too long or sections fill up.
SSoE Graduate ContactsOfficial Pitt Class Search (PeopleSoft)
How to access: Log into the My Pitt Portal using your university credentials, click the Student Center link, and navigate to Self Service > Student Center > Class Search. You can filter courses by term (Fall 2026), campus (Pittsburgh), subject, or department specific classes.

Campus ID & Physical Access
After Matriculation
Create Your Panther Card (Physical ID)
Submit your photo online once you've matriculated. Used for building access, dining, printing, and more on campus.
Submit PhotoDownload the Mobile Panther ID
Carry your Pitt ID on your phone via the Transact eAccounts app. Works for most campus access points and is a great backup to the physical card.

Required Before Start
Enroll in or Waive Health Insurance
Full-time graduate students are required to have health coverage. Enroll in the University plan or submit a waiver if you have comparable coverage from another source.
Health InsuranceSubmit Immunization Records
Graduate students are required to have immunizations on file with the Student Health Service. Submit records through the patient portal; missing this can affect enrollment.
