Your official @pitt.edu address is required for everything that follows. Instructions were sent to the email you applied with.

Required to log into PittNet, Canvas, and the student portal. Set this up immediately after activating your email.

Log into the Student Portal (my.pitt.edu) with your Pitt credentials to find your student ID. You'll need it for many administrative tasks.

Your academic department will email enrollment instructions. Contact them if you haven't heard back — don't wait too long or sections fill up.

How to access: Log into the My Pitt Portal using your university credentials, click the Student Center link, and navigate to Self Service > Student Center > Class Search. You can filter courses by term (Fall 2026), campus (Pittsburgh), subject, or department specific classes.

Understand your degree requirements, course policies, and program structure. Select "Graduate" from the dropdown for SSoE programs.

The Swanson School of Engineering hosts its own orientation for new MS and PhD students. Review the agenda and RSVP early.

The university hosts a separate graduate-wide orientation covering academic integrity, resources, and campus life. Attendance is strongly encouraged.

Submit your photo online once you've matriculated. Used for building access, dining, printing, and more on campus.

Carry your Pitt ID on your phone via the Transact eAccounts app. Works for most campus access points and is a great backup to the physical card.

Ensure your financials are in order. Review your financial aid and funding packages (if any) and confirm all necessary documents are submitted. Find payment information below.

PittFundsMe is an internal database of funding opportunities for Pitt students. Scholarships offered in your admission letter may not be posted until the start of the term.

Graduate tuition differs from undergraduate and varies by residency and program. Confirm your rate and understand what is included.

Pitt offers a variety of resources to help graduate students manage tuition, billing, budgeting, and financial wellness throughout their time on campus. Be sure to review tuition and fee information, explore payment plan options through PittPAY, and connect with available financial support resources as you prepare for the semester.

Full-time graduate students are required to have health coverage. Enroll in the University plan or submit a waiver if you have comparable coverage from another source.

Graduate students are required to have immunizations on file with the Student Health Service. Submit records through the patient portal; missing this can affect enrollment.

Understand Pitt's academic integrity policy. All graduate students are expected to follow it; violations carry serious consequences.

Get to know your department's faculty, graduate coordinator, and advisor. Building these relationships early is one of the highest-ROI things you can do.

Bookmark the SSoE graduate student page — it has info on research centers, career support, student organizations, and engineering-specific advising.
