Ishani holds an MS in Bioengineering from the University of Michigan, specializing in Regenerative Medicine, and a BS in Biotech from Amity University. She has been working as a Research Associate in Dr. Morales Hernandez's lab at the University of Michigan after graduating in 2023. Here her research focuses on the molecular/cellular regulation of hematopoietic stem cell (HSC) biology, this includes expansion and characterization of murine HSCs and further functional transplantation invivo studies. She has also been involved with metabolic profiling and gene expression studies at the transcriptome level to help guide improved transplantation in bone marrow recipients.
Ishani has comprehensive research experience from her different roles in academia and industry. Previously she worked on the development of conditionally activated cancer therapeutics at CytomX. At UM Medicine, she also contributed to preclinical cancer drug development, optimizing small-molecule drug candidates for head and neck cancer studies. During her undergrad studies, Ishani interned at different research institutes to gain enhanced research insight and pursue her passion for research. She is dedicated to advancing novel cellular therapies aimed at transforming cancer treatment and enhancing diagnostic capabilities for the future at Pitt.
