Why you chose Pitt:

Pitt offered accessible and quality opportunities to all engineering students, specifically bioengineers, relating to research, internships, and other professional opportunities. As someone who has a strong interest in research, a love for an urban campus, and lives the perfect distance from home (1 hour away), it was practically an immediate yes for me! I was able to jump straight into research as soon as my freshman year and really immerse myself into my major and what the future could hold for bioengineers. Being located in the heart of Oakland and Pittsburgh is a huge plus, surrounded by diverse food, sightseeing, and culture. Pitt truly offers the ideal environment for creating healthy social, academic, and professional networking!

Advice to a First Year Engineering Student:

Do not be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and meet all new types of people. Get involved in extracurriculars that truly cater to your interests. Yes, you are here for a degree and to get a career, but take the time to explore, to try new things, and to learn about different perspectives other than what you traditionally hold.

Extracurricular involvement and Future Goals:

I am an active participant of SASE, the Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers. Currently, I am a Resident Assistant in Forbes Hall, the First Year Engineering Living Learning Community. I love interacting with the next wave of future engineers and being a reliable resource for them! At the McGowan Institute for Regenerative Medicine, I am an undergraduate researcher. I aspire to go to graduate school for neural engineering and end up working on research and development of neurotechnology and neural regeneration.
