Why you chose Pitt:

I chose Pitt because I wanted to go to a large school that also had school spirit. I wanted to be able to go to sporting events and have a sense of community. I also decided on Pitt because no other university offered a diversity program within the engineering school. Pitt EXCEL, which is an undergraduate academic organization for minority students within the Swanson School of Engineering, was my deciding factor on coming here to Pitt. I love Pitt and couldn’t picture myself anywhere else!

Advice to a First Year Engineering Student:

Take advantage of your resources, and don’t be afraid to reach out to get help. Go to office hours, get tutoring, study in groups, and get the help that you need before it is too late in the semester to help yourself. I would also suggest getting involved in a club or organization that fills up some of your time, because sometimes having too much time on your hands leads to procrastination. However, if you know you have a club commitment at a certain time you are more likely to get your work done in time.

Extracurricular involvement and Future Goals:

I am involved with Pitt EXCEL, and the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE). I play intramural volleyball with my friends. Before I graduate I would love to study abroad, as well as Co-Op.
