Jessica completed a BS in Bioengineering here at the University of Pittsburgh and is currently going into her second year as a Bioengineering doctoral student. Since beginning the PhD program, Jessica has begun assisting with several studies utilizing the imaging technique magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS). Her main project throughout her first year focuses on improving the quality of postmortem brain MRS data by accounting for the different postmortem procedures: fixation, embedding medium, and postmortem interval. Ultimately, through her work with MRS, Jessica hopes to expand on our understanding of the biochemical mechanisms underlying different psychiatric disorders.
