Madison Lewis

Madison graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a degree in Biomedical Engineering and a minor in Mathematics in 2020. She is currently in her third year as a Bioengineering graduate student and performs research in the CONCEPT (Connecting Outcomes, Networks, and Cognition for Early Psychosis Therapeutics) Lab directed by Dr. Konasale Prasad. Madison focuses on using multimodal MRI data to investigate alterations in brain networks to better elucidate the pathophysiology of psychotic disorders such as schizophrenia and risk for developing psychotic disorders. Her major goal is to design novel techniques and processing pipelines to reliably identify network dysconnectivity that contributes to symptoms of the disorder. She hopes to use the results of her research to develop innovative treatments and preventative strategies using bioengineering principles. Over the last 3 years, she has presented the findings of research at several major scientific meetings including the Society of Biological Psychiatry and has won awards for outstanding work.
