Shane is a fourth-year doctoral student in Dr. Beatriz Luna’s lab in the Psychiatry department. She received a B.S. degree in bioengineering and minor in neuroscience from the University of Pittsburgh. She is currently studying neurotypical adolescent development using novel trial level analyses to assess age-related improvements in working memory. To further investigate a period of critical plasticity during adolescence, Shane is using EEG to study indirect measures of the excitation/inhibition balance and looking into their associations with her labs unique MR spectroscopy derived measures of GABA and glutamate. Shane has presented her preliminary work at the international Flux Society conference in 2022, and the Society for Psychophysiological Research conference in 2022.
