Enhanced Resilience of Appalachian Energy and Transportation Systems with Distributed Sensingand Advanced Analytics

Ubiquitous distributed optical fiber sensing is combined with advanced analytics methods and techniques to provide an unprecedented level of visibility and intelligence for resilient regional infrastructure in the Northeast with an emphasis on Northeast Appalachia. The program will emphasize seismic activity monitoring through existing deployed dark fiber networks throughout Northeast Appalachia to directly address societal and technological challenges imposed by earth system impacts via rapid translation of the outcomes of basic geoscience research and discovery.
