Undergraduate students are admitted to the Swanson School of Engineering through the school's admissions office. All first-year engineering students enter the First-Year Engineering Program as undecided engineering majors and share a common curriculum. Students select their departmental major - including Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering - in the spring of their first year, with selections becoming official after first-year requirements and a minimum 2.0 GPA are confirmed.
