University of Pittsburgh Center for Advanced Manufacturing (UPCAM)

The goal of the University of Pittsburgh Center for Advanced Manufacturing (UPCAM) initiative is to represent the efforts of diverse faculty from every department of the Swanson School of Engineering (SSoE) in the field of advanced manufacturing.

Definition of Advanced Manufacturing: Advanced Manufacturing (AdvM) is the family of activities encompassing innovations in materials production and characterization processes and supply chain combined with information technology, modeling, and simulation. The results may be more knowledge-intense versions of traditional manufacturing and/or completely new manufacturing approaches.

We are advancing the state of manufacturing in society through world-class research, outstanding education, and dynamic industrial, academic, governmental, and regional collaborations. The UPCAM initiative also aims to benefit the local and national economy through research discoveries and the collective strengths of the SSoE departments.
