Each year, as part of ENGR0012 and ENGR0716, the entire First-Year Engineering class at the University of Pittsburgh participates in a professional-style conference. Each student in ENGR0012, as part of a team, prepares a conference research paper. This paper is the completion of a semester-long writing project supported by ENGCMP 0412. Students in ENGR0716 design capstone projects in teams that research and innovate a novel solution to a real-world problem. At the conference, ENGR0716 students present and demonstrate their prototypes, while students in ENGR0012 present their research papers, all to their peers, alumni, family, and faculty.

2024 marks the conference's 23rd year, and the Swanson School of Engineering is looking forward to seeing the outstanding work of this year's students. We highly encourage parents and guardians to come join us on the day of the conference to see the transformation that their child has made in just one year under the direction of the First-Year Engineering Faculty and Staff.

This year's conference will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024. A draft schedule, with a list of conference sessions, can be found by clicking the button below.
