Center for Industry Studies moves to the Department of Industrial Engineering

During the 2012 academic year, the Center for Industry Studies moved to the Department of Industrial Engineering in the Swanson School of Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh. Its new mission is to help build a multidisciplinary community of scholars for industry research that stretches beyond the walls of Benedum Hall and attracts social scientists and scholars from all of the professional schools.

Previously, the Center was housed in the Department of Economics at the University of Pittsburgh, part of the Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences. Originally established in 2001, the Center has a long and rich history of successful research steeped in industry studies and field-based research on industry.

Professor Frank Giarratani, Director of the Center for Industry Studies, and Professor Bopaya Bidanda, Chair of the Department of Industrial Engineering, each played a crucial role in the Center’s move to its new department.
